Project Management Overview  - (1-2 day)

Participants in this introductory one-day course work in teams on a standard case study and learn a common-sense planning and tracking methodology.  Globally recognized practices are reviewed in this fast-paced and active format such as: Triple Constraint Management; Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) Facilitation; Resource Definition and Assignment; Bottom-up Estimating; Communication Network Planning; Change Control Management; Risk Management; and Resource Planning.

  • Create clear, measurable goals and outcomes for a project

  • Create a Work Breakdown Structure, and enter in Microsoft Project

  • Estimate task requirements

  • Identify task predecessors and successors, set task logic and analyze critical path

  •  Assign resources

  • Conduct risk management and adapt project plans to ensure success

  • Determine required project reporting

  •  Update and analyze project progress

  • Assess project performance and identify improvement areas

Audience               People who want to achieve a goal.  Those assigned work as: Project managers, team members, managers of project managers, project consultants, support people, and project clients or stakeholders.  Primarily designed for people new to project management or those who wish to reinforce the basic best practices.
